Career Highlights

Moving up in the banking business, from junior officer to Assistant Vice President, all before age 25.

As a branch manager I was always involved in the communities where I worked. While in Falls Church, I joined the Jaycees, (Junior Chamber, membership organization) serving as the Treasurer, and then President, the following year.

I served on the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Board from 1983 to 1995. While serving as Membership Vice President, I sold the most new memberships in our 1995 membership drive  and also led the winning team. In recognition I was presented with an honorary engraved brick that was placed at George Mason High School.

When did you join the HFCI Board?

2012

What HFCI activities have you participated in/enjoyed most?

The various subcommittees (GMU scholarship, Taste of the Vine fundraiser), project to maintain the facade of old Fairfax High School, and volunteering for fall and winter festivals.

What other volunteer activities do you participate in?

I volunteer with Britepaths, a non-profit organization helping individuals that have experienced a hardship, such as divorce, bankruptcy, illness etc. We provide short-term services to help them “get back on their feet.” I serve on the financial literacy team helping people to budget. I also serve on the board of my homeowners association.

What interests you about the History of our community?

I have always been interested in history, especially communities where I have lived. Falls Church, Fairfax and Manassas are all rich in history.

Why should citizens of the City of Fairfax become members of HFCI?

I think citizens should be interested or curious about the histories of the communities where they live. It helps people understand how the community got to be the way it is.
